This World Breastfeeding Week, Meet Henry Plus

It's 2am. You've been sitting in the same position for forty minutes, one arm gone stiff, shifting your weight because your lower back has had enough. Nobody warns you how much of the early days, weeks and months of parenting happen in a seated position.

World Breastfeeding Week runs from 1-7 August. It's the right time to talk about latch, supply and routines. But at iL Tutto, we think it’s also the right time to talk about the chair you're sitting in while all of that feeding happens. The right nursery chair can make all the difference.

Why we built it this way

If you're feeding day and night, chances are you're doing it from the same spot, in roughly the same position, for a good chunk of your day. Over weeks and months that adds up, in your shoulders, your lower back, the way you sit without really thinking about it anymore. That’s why we added some features into the Henry Plus that are purely about your comfort.

Massage, three ways

Henry Plus has integrated back massage with three settings, controlled mostly by how you're sitting. Keep the back cushion in place and sit upright for a lighter feel. Recline further and the pressure builds for something more medium. Fold the back cushion away and you get the most direct massage of the three. 

Soothing seat heat

There's an integrated heat function built into the seat base, giving you a dose of extra warmth while you're feeding, settling or just sitting with your baby. It's a small feature, but for a lot of parents, a warm seat is the difference between a chair that's fine and one you actually want to sit in for the next feed.

Adjustable air lumbar support

Long feeding sessions put real pressure on your lower back, especially if you're sitting in one position for an extended period of time. The air lumbar cushion inflates or releases using the internal controller, so you can find a level of support that suits you and leave it there. It won't change the physical demands of feeding, but it does mean your chair is working with your back rather than against it.

The lumbar support isn't just for feeding, either. A lot of parents start using Henry Plus in the final months of pregnancy, when sitting comfortably for any length of time can be its own challenge. The same adjustable cushion that supports your back during a 2am feed does the same job in the third trimester.

Everything else

Beyond the massage, heat and lumbar support, Henry Plus has a few other features worth knowing about:

• Electric recline: move into position at the touch of a button, useful in late pregnancy, postpartum or any time you've got a baby in your arms and no free hands

• Extended footrest: full-length leg support for a more comfortable, full-body position

• Glide and swivel: a smooth gliding base with 180-degree swivel, so you can settle a baby or reach something nearby without getting up

• USB-A and USB-C charging: built in, for the long feeds where your phone battery doesn't quite keep pace

• Vanilla Bouclé, a textured neutral with a bit more warmth

• Pure Grey, a versatile shade that suits most interiors

A chair for the hours you don't always plan for

World Breastfeeding Week is a good prompt to think about the support around feeding, not just the feeding itself, including the practical, physical side of where and how you're sitting for hours at a time. Support looks different for everyone. As does feeding.
